| Students study the convergence of the modeling, materials choices, and manufacturing considerations in the IGERT program. |
Fuel cell systems require technical contributions in many areas such as design, manufacturing, chemistry, materials, transport processes, controls, mechatronics, materials handling, and robotics.
With existing disciplinary research, and by recognizing opportunities for new interdisciplinary initiatives, IGERT students work in a productive environment that may lead to breakthroughs in fuel cell manufacturing and materials.
Rensselaer's IGERT program integrates three complementary areas of fuel cell research—
- manufacturing,
- materials development, and
- modeling for design, manufacturing, and operation—
and addresses the critical fuel cell issues of reliability, performance, durability, and cost.
The convergence of the modeling, materials choices, and manufacturing considerations are the ultimate objective of the IGERT program.
